About this product

Weichai CI-4 15W-40 is a multigrade diesel engine oil made by Weichai, China's largest maker of heavy-truck engines. Weichai engines power many of the Shacman and Sinotruk trucks on Ethiopian roads, and this is the oil Weichai makes for them. It also suits other heavy-duty diesel engines that call for the same grade.

SAE 15W-40 means the oil flows well enough for a cold start (the 15W part) and stays thick enough to protect a hot engine (the 40 part). API CI-4 is a performance level for heavy-duty diesel engines, and it also covers engines that call for the older CH-4, CG-4 and CF-4 levels.

We sell it in 18 litre pails for workshops and smaller fleets, and in 200 litre drums for fleets that change oil in volume.

Where to use it

Weichai diesel engines, including those in many Shacman and Sinotruk trucks
Weichai engines in buses, construction machines and generator sets
Other heavy-duty diesel engines whose manual calls for SAE 15W-40 at API CI-4, or the older CH-4, CG-4 or CF-4 levels

Good to know

Check the engine plate. Weichai engine models include WP10, WP12 and WP13. Send us a photo if you are not sure.
Follow the oil change interval in your engine manual. Dusty roads, heavy loads and long idling call for the shorter end of the range.
Don't use diesel engine oil in a natural gas engine unless the engine maker allows it.
Store drums under cover and off the ground, and keep them closed until you use them.
